Cupping restores regular blood flow to tight, strained muscles or other tissues to promote the bodies own healing processes. The bright red circles are signs of what we call "stagnation" or "old blood" blocking the free flow of new blood. The cups are actually pulling that "old blood" to the surface to release it.

Patients having received acupuncture during surgery had increased stability of the heart beat and improved blood pressure upon waking.
